Santo Domingo.- The senator and union leader, Antonio Martewarned that the increase to 100 pesos in the toll rates would also imply an increase in ticket prices on interurban routes.
The president of the National Confederation of Transport Organizations (CONATRA) explained: “They have not taken into account that this is short transport and that it will completely affect these transporters, both by car and by bus.”

The senator from Santiago Rodríguez offered these statements after the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and the RD Vial Trust announced that, as of January 15a rate leveling in some tolls that will imply an increase in 40 pesos.

If leveling is implemented, in some stations, the toll will go from RD$60 to RD$100 to align with other modern roads, such as the Santo Domingo Beltway and the Eastern road corridors.
According to a statement issued by the institution, this measure seeks to correct historical differences and guarantee the maintenance and continuous development of the country’s main roads.
