Everyone knows that Much of Venezuela’s wealth is derived from its oil reserves. According to official data and statements by the Bolivarian government, the country has enough energy to supply the whole of Europe.
One advantage that General Simon Bolivar’s nation has over many others is its countless sources of energy and fertile lands that produce food for local consumption and for other peoples, as well as various minerals that are used in global industry. The economic, political and commercial blockades imposed on it are an example of the great voracity of the neoliberal and interventionist countries, with, as we already know, who at the head and, as extras, all their allies.
And if there were the will to avoid or resolve geopolitical conflicts, the energy shortage would be resolved practically without major obstacles. Leaving aside the cancer of hegemony, Venezuela could be a guarantee of a secure supply for Europe or any other region that demands it in times of risk due to a lack of electricity, gas or other necessary input.
America is a continent with abundant natural resources, which have always been used by those nations seeking their own speculative profits, regardless of the profits of those being plundered. Latin America in particular continues to be besieged by the main hegemonic and plundering country: the United States.
Latin American exports are diverse and innumerable: Venezuelan oil; Bolivian lithium; Mexican coffee, bananas and avocados; honey, silver, copper and many other products from Central and South America. However, Latin American trade is almost constantly faced with tariff measures pulled out of thin air. These are mainly blockades by the United States or its allies. Always deciding the value, according to the will of the powerful buyer, and not that of the producer. This is how the line of domination and commercial injustice is marked.
We cannot say of Venezuela the same thing that we say of our country (“poor Mexico, so far from God and so close to the United States) because distance is of little use in this case to stop the harmful interference, since, since its founding, after destroying the true owners of that North American territory, it has appointed itself the foreman of the world and the administrator of the natural abundance of other countries.
The nation with the most imperfect and toxic democracy, presidential democracy, the starting point of its government policy, whether Republican or Democrat, does not reach a percentage of true credibility so that the number of voters leaves no doubt about the triumph of any of the major contenders, threats and extortion are always present, both Democratic and Republican.
Among others, the United States has the following political organizations: Libertarian Party, Green Party of the United States, Party for Socialism and Liberation, Constitution Party, Communist Party of the United States – by the way, founded in 1919, and surprisingly they also have an American Nazi Party, founded in 1964 (in the fervor of the cold War)–. The list is long and interesting because of the number of organizations that declare their policy towards socialism. However, left-wing tendencies lack strength to block interventionist and harmful attitudes towards neighboring countries in America and elsewhere.
I had the honor of writing the prologue to the book In defense of our oilby the esteemed and renowned lawyer, activist and journalist Natalio Vázquez Pallares, from whom we have taken the example of his honesty in the analysis of political conflicts due to the abuse of neoliberal countries, both in America and in Europe, in terms of the defense of our oil. It was precisely in Caracas where we met and began a sensitive friendship. We agreed that the struggle for the oil of our republics was long and arduous. He was not wrong.
The circus set-up by the OAS and its puppets has already been repeated many times on the occasion of the triumph of the progressive proposals of our countries. And, as old Natalio said, more or less: Neither shady contracts nor criminal sabotage will make countries harassed by foreign oil mafias give up the constant attack on our energy sovereignty. Neither in Venezuela nor in Mexico will the enemies of freedom pass.
