Antonio Almonte highlights Astacio’s qualities when swearing him into the SIE

Antonio Almonte destaca cualidades de Astacio al juramentarlo en la SIE

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Anthony Almonte, On Monday morning, Andrés Astacio was sworn in as Superintendent of Electricity, replacing Rafael Velazco, who had been in office since August 16, 2020.

Minister Almonte described the new superintendent as a specialist in the field of regulation in a general sense and, particularly, in the electricity sector.

When he was sworn in, during an act at the Superintendence headquarters, Astacio affirmed that he will do his best efforts to offer the population access to an electrical service that is increasingly stable and at reasonable prices.

“Now from the Superintendence, I will give my best efforts to continue achieving what President Luis Abinader has proposed as a State policy, that Dominicans have a better electricity service, with fair prices,” he said.

The swearing-in was attended by the members of the Board of Directors, the Deputy Minister of Energy, Rafael Gómez, Andrés Cueto, manager of Edenorte and members of the Unified Council of the EDEs.

Andrés Astacio was appointed by the president Louis Abinader as superintendent of Electricity through decree number 428-22.

At the time of his appointment, he was serving as administrator of Empresa de Electricidad del Este (Edeeste) and vice president of the EDE Unified Council.
