“Public health policies are not geared towards screening and early diagnosis of prostate cancer (…) We are not doing things right,” said the president of the SAV.
More than half of the cases are diagnosed in men 65 years of age or older, although the group with the highest mortality is those over 74 years of age.

For Michelina Cipriani, deputy director of the Anticancer Society health center, it is a worrying number “because the difference between positive and negative biopsies is almost nothing.” 18% of the cases treated in October reported having prostate adenocarcinoma, a type of cancer that occurs in glandular cells, in this case of the prostate.
Urologist Johanna Arias, who is part of the Cancer Prevention Clinic, invited men to go to specialized medical consultations to have tests such as prostate antigen and digital rectal examination from the age of 40.
Arias also recalled the need to rule out other types of cancer such as testicular cancer, which affects men between 15 and 35 years of age. He recommended exercising, quitting tobacco use, maintaining a healthy weight and eating properly to lower cancer risks in men.
During November, the SAV Cancer Prevention Clinic in downtown Caracas will have the promotion of prostate antigen (PSA and Free) at 17 dollars, prostate echo at 15 dollars and testicular echo at 15 dollars. For more information call 0424-2098570 or search on Instagram @societyancancerosavzla.
