Gustavo Petro, president of Colombia, sent a letter to the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, in which he points out that matters such as Anti-drug policy and migration require a multilateral approach, while expressing its support for initiatives that aim to “restore peace and end barbarism” in the world.

I have insisted that the only sustainable way to address the situation of migrants heading to the United States is by promoting prosperity in their countries of origin.“Petro said in the congratulatory letter to Trump for his victory, which was published this Monday.
In the letter, The Colombian president also shows his support to Trump’s “pledge” end conflicts in the world, especially in the Gaza Strip, Sudan and Ukraine.

Petro also spoke out on the issue of energy transition and said that Latin America’s vast potential in clean energy represents an extraordinary opportunity to work together.

The Colombian president had already congratulated Trump on social network X for his victory on November 6. He wrote that message just a few days after demonstrating against the now president-elect of the United States and his positions on various issues, especially those related to Latinos.
