In the midst of the indefinite strike in which a group of residents of the so-called Espinar Struggle Committee has declared, last Wednesday afternoon some twenty protesters entered the facilities of the Antapaccay mining camp, vandalizing a pumping station that supplies water to the camp and several communities in the sector.

The event was recorded at approximately 1:00 p.m., when the residents reached the perimeter fence of the mining camp, which they mocked and entered the sector called ‘bomb house’ interrupting the flow of water after percussing the installations.

Meanwhile, the blockade of the road known as the Southern Mining Corridor, continues on the Espinar – Pallpata road, where a picket of protesters controls the passage of vehicles.

These actions are given in demand of the dation of a ‘bonus’ of two thousand soles for each resident of Espinar, this with the budget of the Framework Agreement between this Cusco province and the Antapaccay mining company.

The money from this agreement should be used for works and projects in Espinar, but the residents managed to get the Management Committee approves the delivery of the amount to the residents, that count more than 40 thousand in that province.

Although the delivery has already been accepted, the residents demand speed in its granting, undertaking protest measures with stoppages and even strikes in Espinar.

In addition to the ‘bonus’, another of the residents’ claims is against the Coroccohuayco Integration Project, for which they ask for a new survey of social license, in addition to demanding the reformulation of the Framework Agreement between the province of Espinar and the Antapaccay mining company.
