The National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (ANTAI), governing body in ethics, transparency, access to information and prevention of corruption, is empowered by Law 33 of 2013, to contribute to the execution of public administration in a framework of legality and integrity, examining the administrative management of institutions that carry out acts that threaten the proper use of public funds and the collective well-being.
In this sense, after concluding the investigations, the dismissal of three (3) public officials was recommended, for violating the Uniform Code of Ethics for Public Servants. These officials belong to the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), the National Institute for Professional Training and Training for Human Development (INADEH) and the Municipality of Chame.
On the other hand, after carrying out the pertinent investigations, jurisdiction was declined to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutors of the Attorney General’s Office, in two (2) processes for the alleged commission of crimes against the Public Administration, in its modality of Embezzlement and Corruption of Public Servants, of the Land Transit and Transportation Authority (ATTT) and the Institute for the Training and Use of Human Resources (IFARHU).
