ANPA describes 2025 as a frustrating year for agricultural professionals and accuses the Government of failing to fulfill commitments

ANPA califica el 2025 como un año frustratorio para los profesionales agropecuarios y acusa al Gobierno de incumplir compromisos

Santo Domingo.- The National Association of Agricultural Professionals (ANPA) described the year 2025 as a frustrating, disappointing and profound year of frustration for the country’s agricultural professionals, while accusing the Government of not fulfilling the commitments made with this strategic sector for the economy and national food security.

The president of the ANPA, Tito Hernández, expressed that throughout the year 2025, professionals farmers maintained expectations legitimate demands for improvements in their living and working conditions, which did not materialize, despite multiple meetings, agreements and promises made by the authorities of the agricultural sector.

Hernandez remembered that since On January 28, the date on which a union commission met with President Luis Abinader at the National Palace, to date no concrete results have been produced, despite the fact that the ANPA has done everything in its power, exhausting institutional avenues through meetings, dialogues, negotiations and mobilizations. In that sense, He warned that starting in January, if clear responses and effective compliance do not occur, the ANPA will return to the path of struggle and mobilization, in defense of the rights and demands of agricultural professionals.

“2025 ends without decent pensions for hundreds of professionals who have dedicated their lives to the service of the Dominican countryside; without the replacement of unjustly canceled technicians; without new appointments to strengthen technical assistance; and without the promised salary increase, in a context of high cost of living,” stated the union leader.

The president of the ANPA held the Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruz, directly responsible for the situation of crisis, abandonment and uncertainty into which the agricultural sector has fallen, as well as the consequences that may arise from this scenario. “The minister seems to ignore, and even despise, agricultural professionals, forgetting that they are the true guarantors of production and food security for the Dominican people. Nothing that is done in the agricultural sector would be possible without the decisive, technical and responsible participation of agricultural professionals,” he said.

The ANPA warned that this situation not only affects professionals, but also puts the sustainability of the agricultural sector at risk. and the country’s ability to guarantee sufficient, safe and affordable food for the population.

Finally, the union reiterated its willingness to dialogue, but made it clear that it will not accept any more delays or non-compliance, and that will continue to firmly defend the rights of agricultural professionals and the strategic role they play in national development and in the food security of Dominicans.
