The National Association of Agricultural Professionals (ANPA) informs the country and all workers in the agricultural sector that, after exhausting multiple dialogue efforts and in the face of non-compliance with the agreements assumed by the authorities, it has decided to call a 24-hour national strike for this Friday, November 7, in all institutions and agencies of the agricultural sector nationwide.
The ANPA calls on all agricultural professionals to firmly and decisively join this day of struggle, demanding pensions for 1,537 agricultural professionals, the review of sections for 440 technicians, the replacement of 350 canceled agronomists and the salary increase to 50 thousand pesos for active servants of the sector.
Likewise, the ANPA denounces the mistreatment and disregard to which the agricultural professionals who work at the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD) have been subjected, within the framework of the merger process with the Ministry of Agriculture, so on this occasion the central day of the strike will be concentrated in front of the IAD building, in defense of the dignity and rights of our colleagues.
Our union regrets having to resort to this type of action again, but the authorities have not responded to the fair demands of the sector, despite the commitments made in meetings with the President of the Republic and the Minister of Agriculture.
The ANPA reiterates that the strike will be carried out in a peaceful, orderly and responsible manner, and invites all agricultural professionals, technicians, employees and collaborators in the sector to unite in defense of their labor and professional rights, maintaining unity, firmness and union discipline.
Finally, the National Executive Committee of the ANPA urges the Government to listen to the clamor of agricultural professionals, whose work is essential to guarantee the food security and sovereignty of the Dominican people.
