In a PNP proceeding, he acknowledged having served prison for 18 years for terrorist crimes. He also told the authorities that he had visited one of his comrades in the Chorrillos prison in Lima.

The crimes against priests, nuns and lay workers perpetrated by the Senderistas seem not to have mattered in the religious Barreto, who granted said property to the ex-Senderista, who, in his police statement, says he has a friendship with one of the highest authorities of the Catholic Church. in Peru since 2010.

Antonio Ponce, who also appears in the planillons of the the front of Sendero Luminoso, considers that signing these documents “does not mean joining (a political party or movement)” and assures that he did so for “labor issues.”

‘Melquiades’, in the last demonstrations in Huancayo, was seen with his wife and youngest daughter haranguing against the government of Dina Boluarte. He also loudly —and holding a banner— demands the closure of Congress. In addition, in the last mobilization this character camouflaged himself among Sutep teachers trying to go unnoticed, but was discovered by law enforcement officers.

In a PNP proceeding, he acknowledged having served 18 years in jail for terrorist crimes. He also told the authorities that he had visited one of his comrades in the Chorrillos prison in Lima.

Perú21 spoke with several residents of Ponce Hilario from the 20 block of Arequipa avenue, in the Echadero sector of the Chilca district (Huancayo). They assured that “Melquiades” is not the only person to whom Cardinal Barreto donated land, but also to other families. “A lot of people here hate priest Barreto. He has given land to families and the few times he comes he does it accompanied because nobody wants him here, ”said a neighbor.

In order to find out about the links between ‘Melquiades’ and Barreto, this newspaper went to the Archbishopric of Huancayo, but the Image office informed us that they were not going to provide statements due to a spiritual retreat in which the religious was.

After the violent events in Ayacucho and Huancavelica, Cardinal Pedro Barreto, along with other religious from Huancayo, called for peace marches.

KEEP IN MIND
