The deputy elected by Open Town Hall, Alvaro Perronespoke about his party’s permanence in the government coalition. In an interview with “En Perspectiva”, he expressed that the political group was created to govern under a commitment to the country, and it has never been discussed how they would act in opposition.
Perrone considers that There are issues on which his party can reach agreements with the elected president, Yamandú Orsi. He mentioned his long relationship with Orsi, recalling that they had known each other since their student days at the Santa Rosa high school, when Orsi was a teacher.
Regarding the Colorado proposal Andres Ojeda to create an “organic coalition” in Parliament, Perrone expressed his disagreement. He explained that Cabildo Abierto tried to maintain its identity, but the difficulties came from the opposition of its allies. Regarding this proposition, Perrone said that the National Party and the Colorado Party should lead the coalition, but without losing sight of the fact that the political forces must reflect on the loss in the runoff. According to him, the defeat occurred because he received fewer votes than expected.
Perrone also explained that the decrease in votes in October was because they tried to address many issues without success. Voters expected changes that were not achieved, such as on security issues.
Differences in criteria with Ojeda and the “back to back” vision of the coalition
In another interview, this time on Channel 5, the right-wing legislator revealed what is understood as a lack of coalitionist strategy in practice, beyond speech. “The truth is that there was never any coordination or a proposal, not even a meeting, to say how we are going to function as an opposition (…) We are two days away from the election, and at no time was that discussed or discussed…” the elected representative accused. This goes against the idea of “back to back” that Ojeda used during the campaign and that he maintains today.
Perrone expressed skepticism about whether his party would be considered in case the structure proposed by Ojeda is formed. He pointed out that, although they were in the government, were not taken into accountand emphasized the need to advance budget issues without causing obstructions.
Commenting on his relationship with Orsi, Perrone called it “good,” noting that they both come from the same rural region in Canelones. He highlighted that they have always had a productive dialogue, ensuring that Orsi is a well-intentioned person who worked for the well-being of Canelones.
The legislator stated that, from the FA and Orsi himself, there is a proposal that has to do with child poverty, an issue whose numbers, in this government, have been criticized, as well as the issue of settlements and neighborhoods in situations of poverty. extreme poverty. “We are there to collaborate, especially from the experience we have acquired in budgetary issues.
Perrone clarified that his opinion on Orsi is not necessarily shared by his entire party, especially by Guido Manini Ríos.
