at least one other the five houses that Minister Irene Moreira delivered by choice and without drawing a lottery, it was awarded to a person linked to the Cabildo Abierto.

It is a four-bedroom home awarded directly to a young woman from the department of Rivera.

As he could establish The Observerthe young Riverense is the daughter of a nurse named Elena Almeida, a native of Vichadero and now based in the departmental capital.

On his Facebook profile, Almeida shares numerous posts about Cabildo Abierto activities and proposals. He has shared announcements of Cabildo events in Rivera, photos of party meetings, as well as publications by Senator Guido Manini Ríos and Irene Moreira when she was a minister.

At the same time, Deputy Camargo has labeled Almeida in party publications. And she has published photos of her with her, and also of Almeida with Moreira.

Almeida, however, told The Observer that she is not a member of the Cabildo Abierto, that she has never participated in politics and that she has no relationship with Deputy Camargo.

When asked about his multiple publications on Cabildo Abierto, he pointed out: “I share many things that I think are interesting for my city. I share everything that seems to me that can be interesting for the community”.

However, Deputy Camargo acknowledged that she does know Almeida and reported that she does participate in party activities. “I know Almeida, she attends some activities and meetings that we do with the group, I don’t know her daughter,” said Deputy Camargo.

The legislator also stated that she knew that Almeida needed a home for her daughter.

“I remember that at some point she raised the issue of need for housing, I directed her to go to the MVOT office in Rivera. Some time later, she told me very happy that her daughter had been awarded a home. That is the information I have in this regard,” added Camargo.

Several of Almeida’s public Facebook posts about the Cabildo were no longer accessible after inquiries from The Observer.

According to a list released by official sources, Minister Irene Moreira delivered at least five homes without going through the lottery mechanisms.

The granting of an apartment under these conditions to the militant lobbyist Mónica Píriz caused President Luis Lacalle Pou to ask her to resign this Friday, which unleashed a new crisis in the coalition, since the Open Cabildo is considering leaving the government. This Monday the political table of the party will meet and they will make a definition.
