An unusual case has shocked the inhabitants of Ibagué, Tolima, after a mother appeared lifeless, along with her 18-month-old baby, inside a commercial establishment.
The first hypothesis that the authorities handle is that the mother would have ended the life of her daughter and later attempted her own.
However, the authorities did not confirm it as they continue to collect testimonies and probative material that they found in the place.
Versions indicate that the woman would have left a letter explaining the reasons for what happened.
It would be a new case of filicide, which this 2022 already leaves several child victims.
Preliminary information indicates that the woman said goodbye in the morning to her sentimental partner, the lawyer José Rengifo, but throughout the day he did not answer the phone again.
For this reason, the legal professional and Police pensioner decided to go to the place where they had a Servientrega headquarters to talk to the woman.
However, upon arriving at the establishment located on Calle 24 with Carrera 4ª Estadio, “he found the site closed.”
There he began to ask the neighbors, who would have stated that shots had been heard in that place.
Police Support
For this reason, José asked for the accompaniment of the Police quadrant to enter the premises.
Once they entered the place, they realized that the bodies of the young woman and the baby remained in the bathroom along with a revolver-type firearm.
“The man requests the accompaniment because he had not had an answer during the day from his wife. When carrying out the actions to enter this place, unfortunately, the lifeless body of a 28-year-old woman and a child under 18 months with gunshot wounds were found,” said Colonel Carlos Germán Oviedo, Police Commander.
They also consulted with the mayor’s office of that city, where they affirmed that they are providing support for psychosocial to the families of the two deceased.
“Ibagué is in mourning. The mayor ordered the Ministry of Government and Health to activate the different routes that allow him to provide peace of mind and accompaniment,” said Milton Restrepo, Secretary of Government.
