Two people died and three were injured by the fire in a Havana house after the battery of an electric motorcycle exploded on Saturday.
The accident originated after the motorcycle battery burned, according to the newspaper Havana Tribunewhich cites a note from the National Revolutionary Police (PNR).
The event occurred at 5:10 a.m. on Saturday the 11th in San José no.1058 e/Espada y San Francisco.
The deceased, a 45-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man, were identified as Yonelsy Cadrelo Rodríguez and Vladimir Jerez Roselló, both residents of the area.
Of the three injured, two were reported in serious condition at the Calixto García hospital, and another received a medical discharge, added the report dated this Sunday.
Their ages ranged from 18 to 61 years, two are women and one resides in Bayamo, Granma.
In recent years, the presence of electric motorcycles with lithium batteries has grown, a helpful “solution” to the permanent transportation crisis on the Island.

At the same time, they have been the cause of a large number of accidents and fires, which have caused several victims, including children.
The authorities advise letting the lithium battery cool down to room temperature, keeping the electrical safety devices that are originally installed, and avoiding making modifications to the motorcycle without taking into account the manufacturer’s instructions.
