In a new maritime, aerial and land pursuit operation, agents of the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD), personnel from the Dominican Republic Navy (ARD) and the Air Force (FARD), coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, seized another shipment of 484 packages of cocaine, in the midst of a joint effort deployed off the coast of the province of La Altagracia.
Anti-narcotics agents and military personnel, after receiving intelligence reports, set up a large surveillance device, by air, sea and land, and caught two men on the boat (Go Fast type), who were trying to introduce a large shipment of controlled substances into Dominican territory.
After more than 15 hours of uninterrupted and intense pursuit, tactical and reaction units managed to neutralize several nautical miles south of the coast of Bayahíbe, a 26-foot long speedboat with two men on board and 19 bags containing a total of 484 packages of a substance presumed to be cocaine.

In the operation of monitoring and denial of the area, 18 fuel jugs, two (02) outboard motors of 75 horsepower each, (01) a cell phone, a (01) satellite phone, a (01) portable battery, a (01) two-way radio, one (01) binoculars and two (02) flashlights, among other evidence, were also seized.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office and the DNCD, They are expanding the investigative process and trying to establish if there are other people involved in this criminal structure, while the detainees (two Dominicans) were handed over to the Permanent Attention Jurisdiction of the province of La Altagracia, for the corresponding purposes.
“Over the past four years, security agencies in the Dominican Republic have confiscated a total of 111,074 kilograms (111 tons) of drugs, and with international cooperation, drug seizures amount to more than 155 tons of cocaine, marijuana, crack, ecstasy and other substances, figures that set a historic precedent in the fight against drug trafficking.”
The anti-narcotics agency once again highlights the support of the Central Government and the broad cooperation of the Attorney General’s Office, the Armed Forces (Navy, Air Force and Army), state intelligence agencies, as well as international assistance, which has been decisive in the fight and persecution against drug trafficking networks, money laundering and transnational organized crime.
