Annual inflation for March 2023 in Colombia was 13.34%

The National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) provided the variation data of the Consumer Price Index for March 2023.

According to the entity, inflation for the third month of the year was 1.05% (in March 2022 it was 1%), for the current year the data was 4.56% (in 2022 it was 4.56%) and in terms of the last 12 months the figure stood at 13.34%.

By March 2022, inflation had been 8.53%. In February of this year, the data was 13.28%.

The large variations, which most affected inflation in March, occurred in the divisions of miscellaneous goods and services (those who do not fall into the categories that are formed to generate the CPI) with 1.62%; in the household items and conservation with 1.47%, in the health with 1.41%, the transport with 1.37%, in restaurants and hotels with 1.34%; in alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 1.31% and in accommodation, water, electricity and gas cat 1.01%.

Below 1% were located food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.91%), clothing and footwear (0.73%), recreation and culture (0.66%), education (0.23%) and Information and communication (0.04%).

Regarding the contributions to the data, the divisions that made the most were those related to the household’s own spending: accommodation, water, electricity and gas (0.30%); food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.18%); transportation (0.18%); restaurants and hotels ()0.14 %; and miscellaneous goods and services (0.09%).
