The federal government will launch a campaign to discourage the consumption of vapers launched by the tobacco industry whose distribution and marketing have been prohibited in Mexico since last May. After reporting that 72,000 have been seized since then, the head of the Federal Commission for Protection Against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris), Alejandro Zvarch, said that these products are unique in that they cause illness and death when used in the manner intended by the manufacturer
.
During the presidential conference, it was reported that in 2020 the marketing companies spent 164 billion pesos to advertise their products, which, according to the labels, only contain three substances. However, an analysis by Cofepris found that there are actually 33 ingredients, highly dangerous for humans
among which linodol was identified, a product used to kill flies and cockroaches.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador maintained that given the harmful effects caused by vapers, their commercialization will be combated, in the same way that the consumption of fentanyl will be confronted.
In another order, when announcing the balance of the call to hire national and foreign medical specialists, the director of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo, reported that to cover the 749 positions that are required, 2,067 applications have been received, of which which 473 have already completed the entire process. Of this last figure, 273 are foreign specialists who have already completed the application process, 104 are Cubans, 83 Venezuelans, 21 Colombians and 14 Nicaraguans.
Zvarch claimed that tobacco companies promote vapers with the false speech
that they are an option to discourage tobacco consumption; however, this wicked invention
it hides that in reality these products turn out to be more addictive and more harmful than tobacco itself. Its creation has as its main objective to catch consumers generating a greater addiction, mainly adolescents and young people.
He pointed out that in the absence of studies on these products, Cofepris formed a working group for their review, from which it follows that, contrary to the information from the companies, there are 33 substances that vapers contain. Dimethyl ether, linalool, benzyl alcohol. Perhaps you have not heard them because none of these substances are made to be inhaled, as they affect the lungs and our respiratory capacity.
say the spots that will be launched.
