After Portafolio published an article pointing out the important differences between the mineral production figures presented by the National Mining Agency (ANM) and the data from Dane and the Colombian Mining Association (ACM), the Agency’s president explained why these differences occur.

According to Álvaro Pardo, president of the ANMthe most complete information is found four to five months after since the companies present the extraction figures at the same time as the royalty payment forms.
It should be remembered that according to the mineral production reports of the National Mining Agency (ANM), in 2022 the production of coal, gold, silver, platinum and emeralds fell, with double-digit negative variations.

However, These data contrast with the reports from Dane and the ACM, which estimate higher production figures.. One of these cases is that of coal, which according to the export data of the statistical entity was 60.93 million metric tons. This is a difference comparable to the 53.95 million published by the ANM.
