Anisley García, a “Tuti” convinced that the elite is reached through Kazán (+ Videos)

Anisley García is the best Cuban diver today, and in her mind she seeks to emulate Mayté Garbey. In fact, at the age of 16, he pleasantly surprised everyone after being crowned on the platform ten meters from the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla 2018, displacing the Mexican favorites Viviana del Ángel (332.45) and Gabriela Agundez with an accumulated score of 332.90 points. (330.45).

Anisley is determined to insert herself into the elite of ornamentalism, at least on the platform, because, despite simultaneizing this event with the trampoline event, she is aware that it is her core test, in addition to the one that has brought her the best dividends.

After being close to qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics, by placing 21st in the 2021 World Cup, in a qualifier played in the Japanese capital itself (256.70 pts), the “Tuti”, as everyone knows her in the sports world, is determined that this will be its cycle of materializing top-level results.

And apparently the International Swimming Federation also believes it is possible, so it decided to give him the opportunity to raise his sporting form at the International Aquatic Sports Training Center in Kazan, Russia, where they have been training, since the beginning of 2021, also ornamentalist Carlos Daniel Ramos and swimmer Luis Vega.

Tuti under the magnifying glass

Delving into the latest performances of the Tuti, or rather, her post-Barranquilla roadmap, we find that at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games she anchored seventh in the individual platform final (318.30), eighth in the one-meter springboard ( 251.65), and fourth, along with Arlenys García (260.70), in the synchronized platform for ladies.

And more recently, at the I Junior Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia, he won the one-meter springboard (276.5 dashes), as well as in the mixed team modality (471.2), as well as winning bronze on the solo platform. (285.85), a record that perhaps relaunched her in the spotlight of the gurus of the discipline within FINA, and that propelled her invitation to Kazan.

Certainly, the scenario of development of the Tuti, who exhibits the position 37 of the ranking The platform world derived from that only foray into the World Cup in Japan in 2021, with eight units, has not been the best.

To the problems that the Baraguá Swimming Pool Complex has traditionally presented, in terms of heating the diving tank and the swimming pools, is added the impasse more than prolonged due to the scourge of the COVID-19 pandemic, which they later tried to mitigate by putting the turbo to their preparation for that pre-Olympic training under a bubble regime.

About that preparatory stage towards the dream of Tokyo, which later became his base for the appointment in Cali Valle, he confessed to Cuba Si:

«During this time we have been recovering everything related to our sports form, which as much as we tried, we lost, due to so much time of inactivity. The fundamental thing was not to touch the water, the essence of our sport… so the first thing was to win in the physical component and the basics associated with our jumping program.

«It is about reinforcing the basics very well to reach the most complex dives with better quality. Otherwise, it is useless to raise them and have to lower them again because they do not have all the technical elements at a correct level.

—From the physical point of view, how have you complemented this work?

—In the physical part, we concentrated on dry work, reviewing the technique, many imitations, somersaults in the box and dry trampolines, getting the most out of the trampoline…

«In my case, I do both platform and trampoline, so I have to work twice as hard and do a little of everything in terms of exercises. That’s what the routine here in the gym is made up of. Likewise, we focused on strengthening my left knee, which I injured coming in after quarantine. I do everything I can and my coaches plan.

—In your case, that you have officially simultanized events internationally, are you good at it?

“In my case, I’m doing quite well. If it is better, by the results, we are convinced that the platform, but on the trampoline, as strange as it may seem, I am less afraid. I feel safer, because it is less height, and then it is easier to train it.

“And in keeping with your physical characteristics?”

—With the two events I feel comfortable. Sometimes, with the platform I have to make a little more effort, because I have to lose a little more weight, which is not very noticeable on the trampoline.

“But in that sense, low, to be able to carry out both events with all of the law.”

To these details we must necessarily add the almost zero competitive level that our divers have. Imagine that your calendar for this 2022 will be limited to the qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador in 2023, without invitations for any of the four phases of the World Series (between March and June).

The Swimming World Cup, which was agreed for the Japanese Fukuoka in May of this year, as a result of the prevailing tense epidemiological situation, was postponed to 2023, so the only oasis until now, domestic as well, will be the National Championship in June, in which all the members of our national pre-selection are expected to participate.

The path is rocky, at times it will be inhospitable for Anisley, who, when she started in ornamentalism, did not know how to swim.

But Tuti has been overcoming obstacles of various kinds for almost 15 years, burning many stages of the childhood of a normal little girl, growing up with the word delivery as a premise.

Being the youngest of three sisters, she inherited the sports gene, since they preceded her practicing athletics and weights one, and nailed the other. Precisely to the last of her Anisley owes her first steps in this discipline of somersaults and turns, always with the unconditional support of her mother Hilda.

Anisley, or Tuti, is convinced that the route to success does not seem like a panacea at all. At the age of 20 (she was born on January 19, 2002), she is also convinced by the fact that a solid path towards her definitive insertion in the elite may be, in fact, that one-year stay in Kazan, from which she will try to get him out, by dint of watermarks in the air, in fractions of seconds, the greatest possible profit.
