The collapse of Beyond Meat shows the difficulty of cultivated meats to impose themselves as an alternative for consumers

The meat market is in trouble. Livestock prices have fallen to just set a tentative bottom this week. And that happens in Uruguay, in Argentina and in Brazil. China has economic problems and despite its tough anti-Covid policies, cases of the disease are increasing. Europe is at war, and with inflation continuing unabated, the main concern will be to keep warm in the coming winter. But for a particular sector the blow is even greater: the companies that took the lead with products that imitate meat have more serious problems than those of the cattle producers.
