MIAMI, United States. — Cowboys from the Cuban National Rodeo Team starred in a new episode of animal abuse during the XXIII edition of the Fiagrop 2022 International Agroindustrial Food Fair.
The incident occurred this Friday at the Rodeo track of the Rancho Boyeros Fairgrounds, in Havana, when the athletes tied a cat by the neck in front of the spectators present at the event.
Clowns who were part of the show were also involved in the incident.
Images shared on social networks show how the cowboys and the circus artists not only tied and hung the cat, almost about to hang him, but also raged against him, to the frank disapproval of the public attending the place.

The Cuban Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG), the institution in charge of the fair, addressed the event through a official note and promised sanctions to those responsible for the events.
“In the afternoon of yesterday, Friday, April 8, 2022, at the rodeo event that takes place at the XXIII edition of the Fiagrop 2022 International Agroindustrial Food Fair, an unfortunate act of animal abuse occurred in front of the spectators present at the event. the Rodeo track at the Fairgrounds. The Ministry of Agriculture makes its total disagreement official and repudiates the action carried out by the artists (clown) and the athletes of the national rodeo team involved in the event,” said the statement, published this Saturday.
The statement ensures that “the administrative, disciplinary and contraventional sanctions that correspond to those responsible who participated in this type of incident of animal abuse will be applied.”
The MINAG recalled that on July 10, 2021, the legal regulations that implement the so-called Animal Welfare Policy and that establish “the duty of Cuban citizens to protect natural resources, flora and fauna and ensure the conservation of a healthy environment.”
