Aníbal Torres: “There is excessive freedom of the press in Peru and that is fully guaranteed”

The head of the Ministerial Cabinet, assured that there is “excessive” freedom of the press in Peru and that is fully guaranteed in the government of President Pedro Castillo.

During his presentation before the Plenary, the head of the PCM affirmed that the Executive Power is not applying “no measure” against journalism, which he again accused of “insult, defame, slander”.

“We are not taking any measures against the press, there is excessive freedom of the press even to insult, defame, slander. There is excessive freedom of the press in Peru and that is fully guaranteed”he expressed.

However, it should be remembered that Castillo Terrones announced on August 1 that he will take legal action against the journalistic program Panorama, because he considers that it broadcasts “Fake news whose sole purpose is to deceive and manipulate citizens”.

In social networks, the president denied that he had received a “reward” of 30 thousand soles from personalities such as his former Minister of Transport and Communications John Silva and asked for an investigation to clarify that version.

“Exercising my right as a citizen and as President of the Republic, I will proceed to denounce the indicated journalistic production that spreads false news whose sole purpose is to deceive and manipulate the citizenry”he wrote on Twitter.

Torres Vásquez also denied that the government of Castillo Terrones is communist and remarked that those who use these adjectives do not know “The meaning of the words” and despite this, they say it openly.

“The communist thing, say what is the communist act that this government has carried out. What happens is that sometimes we don’t know the meaning of words and let it go. They do not know what communism, liberal or neoliberal is”narrowed down

“We have not given any gesture or spoken a word that some communist policy is going to be installed in Peru, we always proclaim that we practice the social market economy that is enshrined in the Constitution, and we repeat it and say: individual property , business freedom, plurality of political parties. That is precisely what generates security for investment in the country”sentenced.
