Aníbal Torres: "I told the president that Mariano González did not want to do anything"

The head of the Council of Ministers, rejected that Mariano González has been separated from the Executive for political reasons and for the formation of the special team that will search for former minister Juan Silva, among others close to the president implicated in cases of corruption.

In the session of the Control Commission, he explained that the former Minister of the Interior attended two councils of ministers and only stayed for a few minutes. Then he left without explanation. In addition, he maintained that he did not comply with the emergency declaration in Lima, Callao and Trujillo, which was entrusted to him.

He also expressed that González indicated that “there is no citizen insecurity” and that “it is only a perception.”

“I told the president that the new minister doesn’t want to do anything,” Torres said. Besides, he told her that they were unlucky with his appointment.

At another point, Torres assured that the special team will not disappear.

“Nobody said that this commission is going to disappear. We have said that it has to be reinforced. There is no protection for this or that person,” she asserted.
