The President of the Council of Ministers, Hannibal Torresdefended the work being carried out by the Minister of Health, Hernán Condori, who is about to be questioned by the Congress of the Republic and who has been questioned for being a “quota” of Vladimir Cerrón’s party.
“The evaluation is permanent. What happens is that at the moment it is working fine. Look at the children’s vaccine we have just started. We have reached children between 5 and 11 years old, we have managed to vaccinate 50.77%”he highlighted.
In an interview with RPP this Saturday, March 12, the premier acknowledged that they are working to increase the number of women in the Cabinet and that, if any member is censured by the Legislative Power, they will make the “maximum effort” to have them replaced by women.
“That the Congress of the Republic is questioning the Minister of Health, is the power they have in Congress and we abide by that power”he asserted.
Aníbal Torres and the “quota” of Vladimir Cerrón
At another point, Aníbal Torres minimized the questioning of Hernán Condori by those who consider it an appointment proposed by Peru Libre, a party chaired by Vladimir Cerrón, and said that “everyone” suggests ministers but that in the end it is Pedro Castillo who will place whoever deems fit.
“(Vladimir Cerrón) is in the match in which Pedro Castillo won but he is not governing. That he has participation in the election of some ministers, that is not negative. Everybody has it, everybody is going to suggest that it should be this one or that one. All the parties talk about placing so-and-so”commented.
The prime minister assured that, before taking office at the head of the Cabinet, it was he who recommended to President Castillo that the premiership go to the former Minister of Health, Hernando Cevallos, due to his “social acceptance.” However, this was ruled out after analyzing the problems that persisted in the health sector.
