Once again, the Government He again gave a new date for the arrival of urea in our country, amid the high cost of the product and the announcement of a possible food crisis in 2023. Now he pointed out that the fertilizer will only be on Peruvian soil in September.
It should be noted that the head of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation of Peru (Midagri), Andrés Alencastre, indicated -two weeks ago- that the contract with the Italian company Union Sped was going to be closed so that it would be a supplier of urea, but until the date not yet signed.
“We have to admit that in the acquisition of urea there have been failures, since they have been left without effect (the tenders) up to three times. The Comptroller’s Office made a simultaneous control, however, in the end it pointed out that there were irregularities, despite the fact that the award was already in place, so they had to go back to the stage of granting the award and the Italian company won. Probably the urea will arrive in September”, said the president of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, at a press conference.
The premier added that this last tender for the acquisition of fertilizer “is not going to fall.”
For its part, Midagri stated, in a statement, that the process of purchasing and delivering nitrogenous fertilizer is carried out in a serious and responsible manner, in accordance with legal procedures, in order to ensure the 2022-2023 agricultural campaign.
“The ministry is collecting the information of the winning supplier of the good pro, with the purpose that it can comply with all the demands and recommendations formulated in a timely manner by the Office of Internal Control (OCI) of the Comptroller General of the Republic“, held.
In this regard, he specified that, in the coming days, Agro Rural will sign the contract for the acquisition of urea with the winning company.
