Seven months after the presidential interns, we remember the December 2019 interview with Dr. Aníbal Filártiga, former director of the Trauma Hospital.
The doctor analyzed the emerging and opposition figures of recent times. Regarding Kattya González, he said that she is exuberant in his expressions but that she does not go to the extreme of asking for people to be killed, as Paraguayo Cubas did and cost him his seat in the Senate.
“He would have kept a lower level and would be a very useful person because he denounces things that the others do not want to say, unfortunately he exceeded a bit,” he said.
Regarding the political parties, he maintained that they must function as trainers of leaders due to the electoral subsidy they receive. “I personally am a critic of political parties,” she pronounced. In turn, she praised the training of Soledad Núñez, who spent eight months training at the University of Oxford, saying that the parties should imitate this to create new leaders.
“Efraín Alegre believes that he is predestined and he will not even be president of the Tembetary because he does not give him the leather, nobody wants him,” he stressed about the absence of new candidates in the political arena.
He argued that the defect of the parties is that they perpetuate the same as always because they are not interested in a replacement. “How can it be that Galaverna, a guy who doesn’t even have a bachelor’s degree, has been a parliamentarian for 30 years and you neglect yourself and he is the best, that’s the saddest thing,” he questioned.
“We are useless people who let these clowns rule us, that’s the problem,” he criticized.
He argued that, even if a superman is believed, the majority that votes for one color will continue to choose poorly. “They are going to continue voting for Donald Duck because nobody trains them and they believe that it has to be that way,” he assured. Finally, he encompassed citizenship with three characteristics: “We are an ignorant, sick and poor people.”
If he were still director of Medical Emergencies, the message he would put in the institution today would be: “Wake up, damn it! Because that’s what this town needs, to wake up,” he said.
DEMOCRATIC TRANSITION
“I am very pessimistic, here we live improvising, we did it with the president because this one we have now is a boy who was created among ill-gotten silver cotton wool,” he said about the current president.
“Everything he does is wrong, we improvise and we have the consequences and that’s how it will be, we have lost 30 years of transition,” he lamented.
Dr. Filártiga reviewed the presidents who went through this period of democracy, who left much to be desired with their administrations.
Regarding Horacio Cartes, he said that he did not have to be president because he did not have the profile and that “a few scoundrels” excite him because they want to continue in power. The same goes for Mario Abdo, who supposedly comes from a political lineage, he commented. “What lineage if he never did anything, he is lazy and apart from that he is useless”, he sentenced.
