For the political leader of La Causa R in Bolívar, Ángel Álvarez, the self-managed primary election will guarantee the unity of the opposition and the population, since it will allow citizens, without interference from third parties, to choose the standard-bearer to confront the regime.
“We have already experienced experiences of this type in previous processes, that is, there is a master’s degree and all have been successful,” said Ángel Álvarez, organization secretary of La Causa R in Bolívar state.
He reiterated that “today more than ever, given the claims of a government that seeks eternity in power, citizens, political parties, unions, unions, everyone who wants a change for Venezuela, we must unify, activate ourselves in the action and participation of a single policy: the organization of the primary election, not only as a main democratic exercise, but also will guarantee the articulation of the democratic forces of the entire country, will strengthen their unity and that of all the social movements that fight for a change” .

He assured that, in addition, this will give greater strength and legitimacy to the presidential candidate that emerges from those primary elections.
“Democrats are the majority in our country and that is why the regime seeks by all means to try to ensure that there are no primaries, because it knows it has been defeated, as happened in the 2015 parliamentary elections for the National Assembly, and that will happen again in 2024. They have the defeat marked on the forehead. No matter how much they invent and maneuver, they go outside when the presidential elections are held,” concluded Álvarez.
Initially, the national commission had decided to hold primaries with the technical assistance of the National Electoral Council (CNE), which generated reactions in favor and rejection. However, after the resignation of rectors and the decision of the National Assembly to appoint a commission to designate a new CNE, it was decided that the opposition process be carried out independently, given that going with the electoral entity implies delaying the election of the unitary candidate of the opposition.
