ANEP on plagiarism in reform text: “Errors were found in some paragraphs”

The National Administration of Public Education (ANEP) referred to the controversy surrounding the allegations of plagiarism in its educational reform document.

According to the agency, the document was approved by the Education Training Council “as a document under construction”. In a statement issued this Monday, it is clarified that “it is expressed in its title and with that objective it was approved and disseminated to the internal” of the agency.

The text, entitled “Proposal for the Curriculum Design of the Degree Training of Educators”, uses “different sources”, which “are cited or referenced” in a section “corresponding to the bibliography”argued the ANEP.

Nevertheless, errors were found in some paragraphs in the session of the Central Board of Directors (Codicen) and by “public references”. In these extracts “their origin or bibliographical source was not duly cited”, but the Education Training Council maintained that “They will be corrected in the next versions” of the text.

These paragraphs do not affect the substance of the documentwhich continues to maintain the objective of encouraging reflection, discussion and analysis by the different institutional actors and for the purpose of making their contributions, to be considered in the final preparation of the document, which will regulate the education of educators”, says the statement.

Finally, the ANEP recalled that there is a schedule of activities “that guides the form and timing” of receiving contributions, suggestions and corrections.
