Andrés Velásquez said that inside and outside Venezuela the demand will continue to demand “respect for the Constitution” and the results of 28J. The leader of La Causa R also referred to the situation of dozens of teenagers imprisoned for the post-election protests, and pointed out that “the condemnation of this State policy must be total.”
The former governor and national leader of La Causa R, Andres Velasquezassured that in the July 28 elections “a political change occurred and that must be accepted” by the government of Nicolás Maduro.
«Maduro can invent anything. He and his clique can try any type of setup, but there is only one unobjectionable, incontrovertible truth: they lost on July 28,” Velásquez said in a video published this Sunday, October 6, on his social networks.
The opposition leader assured that “the Venezuelan people beat up” Maduro, who was proclaimed the winner of the presidential elections by the National Electoral Council (CNE). The results were “validated” by the Supreme Court of Justice, at the request of the ruler.
But the opposition, led by María Corina Machado and Edmundo González, claimed the results as “fraudulent”, based on the voting records in their possession that give the victory to González Urrutia with 67% of the votes. The international community has joined the claims, asking to see the minutes and independent verification of the results.
Andrés Velásquez said that inside and outside Venezuela the demand will continue to demand “respect for the Constitution” and the results of 28J. «Maduro must go. “Maduro must abandon power and that is what we are demanding, respect for the right to choose established in our Constitution, and that is not a crime.”
