In an interview with the program Ampliación de Noticias, Riera stated that his client, by his own decision, will collaborate with the authorities by providing relevant information. The lawyer said that Hurtado will appear before the Prosecutor’s Office today at 3:00 p.m.and will provide details about the accusations against him.
“After having talked with Andrés Hurtado until late at night, because yesterday they gave us the file, the gentleman has decided to testify and will not invoke the right to remain silent,” Riera said. According to the lawyer, Hurtado will provide a detailed version of the events for which he has been charged in order to clarify his situation and seek the end of the preliminary detention measure.
Riera avoided giving more details about the statement made by ‘Chibolín’
On the other hand, Elio avoided commenting on whether his current client will reveal names or provide more details about the alleged bribe of more than a million dollars that he had requested. According to the accusations, this sum would be linked to the management of the return of a shipment of gold seized from the Miu Lei family, through the prosecutor specialized in money laundering, Elizabeth Peralta.
“I cannot reveal that because I am not authorized. He will give his full truth regarding the scope of the accusation.”Riera said during his statement to the media.
The lawyer also referred to the statements made by Ana Siucho, sister of soccer player Roberto Siucho and wife of Edison Flores, who stated that the suspect had requested a million-dollar bribe to carry out the procedures. However, Riera was emphatic in clarifying that this accusation is not present in the prosecutor’s file.
“In the fiscal file I do not notice that [Ana Siucho] “If she has made a statement to the Prosecutor’s Office or if there is some element that proves it. I do not understand why the lady has not made a statement, but if it is not in the file, it is not an element of conviction, it is an open source news. If it is not reported, declared or supported before the representative of the legality, it has no major impact.”Riera said.
The lawyer also reported that during the search of an apartment in Miraflores where the suspect lives, a cell phone was seized, which could be key to the investigation.
