Supreme Judge Gustavo Álvarez Trujillo will decide this Monday, December 2, whether the suspended prosecutor Elizabeth Peralta should receive a preventive detention order for 18 months or continue with the investigation process in freedom. The judge is being investigated along with former television host Andrés Hurtado ‘Chibolín’ and businessman Javier Miu Lei, for alleged influence peddling in the return of gold bars.
The hearing will be held at 12:30 pm, where the vote cast by Judge Gustavo Álvarez Trujillo will break the tie with the four votes necessary at the Supreme Court level to reach a decision, since currently, it is tied. with three votes for each side.

The supreme magistrates María Altabas, Norma Carbajal and Saúl Peña Farfán voted in favor of declaring the tax appeal founded and issuing 18 months of preventive detention against the suspended Superior Prosecutor Elizabeth Peralta. On the other hand, supreme judges César San Martín, Iván Sequeros and Manuel Luján voted in favor of confirming Judge Juan Carlos Checkley’s decision to impose an appearance order with restrictions on Elizabeth Peralta.
The disagreement in the decision is that the danger of obstruction regarding the suspended prosecutor Elizabeth Peralta within the preparatory investigation is proven.
