Laura Villamil, the dancer who suffered an accident at work while performing a fire show at the renowned Andrés Carne de Res restaurant, located in Chía, Cundinamarca, on August 17, suffered burns on 80% of her body and has undergone several surgeries.

In the past few days, Santiago Villamil, Laura’s brother, told the media that the young woman’s health had improved and that doctors had reduced her sedation and were giving her medication to treat her wounds.
He also said in other interviews that they had not had any contact with the restaurant and that the dancer’s health was the priority for the moment. However, he said that they were preparing a lawsuit against Andrés Carne de Res.
Andrés Carne de Res spoke out
After several days without any statement from Andrés Carne de Res, recently, through their social networks, they published a statement entitled “The poet is you.”
“Life put you before the eyes of everyone in the art of dance; that will be your path and we will support that rebirth and flight that we will celebrate as the reflection of the brave act of surviving such a contingency… You are the poet, and we will need your art and wisdom as the joy of life embodied in your presence,” they wrote.
In the statement, they expressed their solidarity with Laura Villamil’s family and stressed that reconciliation is the way forward. “We understand and stand in solidarity with all the pain, love and support of your family, dad, mom and siblings. Not reconciling will not lead to any happy ending. Our hands only have the intention of embracing a happy future for everyone, for our tireless work and for all the desire to continue dancing.”
Finally, they referred to the good news about the artist’s health after several days of knowing a statement, so, according to the statement, they considered that “it was the right time and the right signal to make a physical presence and let you know, reiterating to your family our permanent thoughts and interest in your medical evolution, and our requests and prayers.”
