The investigation continues. After almost two weeks of having given her demonstration, the head of Human Resources of Congress and activist of Alianza Para el Progreso (APP), Haidy Figueroa, has been summoned, for the second time, to the Oversight Commission, for the Andrea case Vidal.
In the aforementioned case, one of the hypotheses is the existence of an alleged prostitution network within Congress, which plots the murder with 70 bullets of the former Parliament worker, Andrea Vidal, and the participation of the former head of the Office of the Legal Advisory of the aforementioned legislative entity, Jorge Luis Torres Saravia.
The president of the Oversight Commission, Juan Burgos, confirmed to Peru21last Friday, that in addition to Haidy Figueroa, the workers of the Congressional Legal Advisory Office have been summoned to testify.
Peru21it is recalled, reported at the end of December that the aforementioned woman was going to be called to testify, as part of a request made by the congresswoman of Popular Renovation, Norma Yarrow in the last session of the Oversight Commission, on December 26.
At that hearing, Yarrow reported the existence of a notarized letter that Torres Saravia sent to his complainant on December 14, asking him to retract his complaint.
Torres Saravia, in his speech, accepted having sent that document, but said that he did so to defend his honor because, according to him, he did not abuse her.
SALHUANA AND SOTO
On the other hand, the trip to China of the head of the Legislature will not prevent him from being summoned to make his statement, as this media has reported.
According to Burgos, the head of Congress, Eduardo Salhuana, and his predecessor in that position, Alejandro Soto, will be summoned to give their testimony between the 15th and 16th of this month in the Andrea Vidal case.
Perú21 interview with the head of Inspection, Juan Burgos.
Burgos pointed out that the initial date of Salhuana and Soto’s summons has been rescheduled – although they had not been notified – due to the trip to China that the former will make between the 5th and 10th of this month.
Alejandro Soto, for his part, has confirmed to Peru21 that he will come to testify, although I anticipate that he will wash his hands and will not accept any responsibility.
Soto told this media on Friday that he did not order Torres Saravia to be hired and that he does not know Andrea Vidal.
Soto confirmed to Perú21 that he will attend to testify before the Oversight Commission.
This, despite the fact that Torres was appointed head of the Legal Advisory Office in September 2023, when Soto was president of Congress.
In addition, Torres issued a legal opinion report in which he frees Soto from a complaint of alleged nepotism for hiring the sister of his son’s mother in his office.
APP WOULD SHIELD TORRES SARAVIA
Alianza Para el Progreso (APP) could return the favor to Torres Saravia when he saved the former president of the Legislature, Alejandro Soto, on August 29, 2023, through a legal opinion, in which he said that there was no crime of nepotism when The legislator from Alianza Para el Progreso (APP) hired, in his office, the sister of his son’s mother.
This assessment that Torres made prevented the Ethics Commission from initiating an investigation and suspending his position as congressman for up to 120 days.
This shield tacitly announced to Torres Saravia – who is close to APP, despite not being a militant – follows from the fact that the head of Human Resources, Haydi Figueroa – a supporter of APP – was the official who ordered the formation of the Ad Hoc Commission who will carry out the administrative investigation of this case.
In 2020, he began working as an advisor to then congressman Luis Valdez, current general secretary of APP.
A day later, on Thursday the 9th, the woman who denounced the main person involved in the case of alleged prostitution ring in the Legislature, Jorge Luis Torres Saravia, for rape, has also been summoned to give her testimony.
TRIP TO CHINA
Last Thursday, so as not to forget, the president of Congress washed his hands of the sexual exploitation case in which former Legislative worker Andrea Vidal was murdered with 70 bullets.
This, because he did not care that the benches, such as Renovación Popular, could present a motion of censure against him. The president of Congress, Eduardo Salhuana confirmed, as this newspaper did before, that he will travel to the land of Xi Jinping, with a delegation of three congressmen and three workers (two of them, Saby Meza and Jaqueline Lozano, members of his party Alliance for Progress, APP).
Salhuana indicated that Lady Camones will accompany him on the trip, but his office informed us that he had given up doing so. It will be seen in the next few days.
The list of congressmen who accompany Salhuana, according to him, are the president of the Foreign Relations commission, Auristela Obando, from Fuerza Popular; the legislator from Somos Perú, Luis Cordero Jon Tay; and the congressman from Avanza País, José Williams.
