The former Minister of Justice and former Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District Anderson Torres asked the Federal Supreme Court (STF) this Monday (24) to be detained at the Federal Police Superintendence (PF) in Brasília if he is convicted of the coup plot carried out by the Court.
Sentenced to 24 years in prisonTorres appeals the sentence while free, under the monitoring of an electronic ankle bracelet.
In the request made to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case, the former minister’s defense informed that he must present a new appeal against the conviction by December 3rd.
However, the lawyers said that if Moraes understands that the sentence must be executed immediately, Torres must serve the sentence at the corporation’s superintendency or at the Operational Aviation Battalion (BAVOP) of the Military Police. He is a career PF delegate.
The defense said that Anderson Torres has already suffered death threats when he held the position of security secretary and takes medication for depression.
“In the event of determining the early execution of the sentence, it is argued that the reprimand should be carried out at the Federal Police Superintendency in DF or at the Operational Aviation Battalion (BAVOP), or, even, in a similar establishment, compatible with the functional condition of the sentenced person and necessary for his protection”, requested the defense.
On the 14th of this month, the First Panel of the STF upheld the conviction of Torres, former president Jair Bolsonaro and other convicts in the criminal action of Nucleus 1 of the coup plot.
With the publication of the ruling, which took place last week, the defenses of Bolsonaro and his allies must present new resources to try to avoid arrests to begin serving their sentences.
The deadline ends this Monday, at 11:59 pm.
