Andean harps belonging to Peruvian artists were destroyed by airline (VIDEO)

Two Peruvian exponents of the Andean harp, Miski Maki and Killari, find themselves in a deep crisis after returning from a tour of Brazil, organized by the Ministry of Culture.

Their precious musical instruments, symbols of the rich Andean tradition and essential for their performances, suffered irreparable damage due to the negligence of Jetsmart airline.

Despite having hired a special service to ensure the integrity of their harps, both on the outward and return journey, the instruments arrived in deplorable condition.

Although they managed to repair some of the damage in time for their performances, Miski Maki’s harp was beyond repair, leaving the artist without her main work tool.

Killari, who is also president of the National Women’s Scissor Dance Association, denounced that this act constitutes an attack on the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, recognized by both UNESCO and the Ministry of Culture.

Both artists have filed a formal complaint with Indecopi and have demanded that Jetsmart compensate for the damages caused. They have also requested the intervention of the Ministry of Culture and the competent authorities to thoroughly investigate this case and establish mechanisms to guarantee the protection of cultural assets during air transport.
