Andahuaylas: Protesters release police officers held during protests, confirms Ombudsman

The protesters released the police officers taken hostage during the protests this Saturday, December 10, in the city of Andahuaylas, Apurímac region, as confirmed by the Ombudsman.

Through its institutional account on Twitter, the entity indicated that the agents are being reviewed by health personnel from the Police and requested that the facts be investigated by the Public Ministry.

Likewise, the Ombudsman’s Office reported that the protests this Saturday have left 16 people and 4 police officers injured. For this reason, the medical care of all the contusions, civilians and members of the order, was coordinated.

“We reiterate our call to the population not to resort to violent means during their protests. We remind the Police that any action to restore public order must be carried out within the framework of the use of force law.he stressed on the social network.

It should be noted that one of the hostages was PNP non-commissioned officer Walter Silvera Obregón, who was held by several groups of protesters near the Plaza de Armas of that city.

Protesters used slingshots and stones in their attempt to reach the Public Ministry headquarters, while law enforcement officers used tear gas to repel them.

It should be noted that for the second consecutive day the mob demands the closure of the Congress of the Republic, the resignation of the president Dina Boluarte and the call for new general elections.
