The Ancash region will seek to boost its development by relying on mining, according to what its regional governor Koki Noriega announced at the Mining dialogue table for sustainable territorial development with the environmentwithin the framework of the Planning Forum for Sustainable Productive Development in the Regions of Peru.
Noriega highlighted the potential that the department has because it is one of those with the highest income from mining canon.
For this reason, he stressed that the Ancashino district of San Marcos will receive an amount that quadruples what is necessary to close the basic gaps, which is expected to be the engine of development for this city.
In addition, he assured that the works for taxes (OxI) mechanism is an opportunity for the development of projects in the region and mentioned as examples the Port of Chimbote, the Chinecas Special Project and the Interoceanic Highway (Ancash – Huánuco – Ucayali).
“In Ancash we have a ceiling of 600 million to be able to access financing from OxI, at a national level there is a total of 2000 million. In 4 years Ancash should be a model”, commented Noriega.
The former Vice Minister of Energy and Mines, Rómulo Mucho, also spoke at the table, who described the general panorama of mining and possible scenarios for the environmental sustainable territorial development of the mining regions.
“Mining is a development articulator, however, its performance will depend on management. I invite you to think about conscious capitalism, a space where the economy is diversified, ”he said.
