A new school poisoning alert was recorded in Ancash after twelve students of the Ricardo Palma School, in the District of Color (Carhuaz), were transferred to health centers after presenting symptoms such as abdominal pain and nausea. The minors, all of primary school, would have been affected after consuming a ration of quinoa with milk and integral cookie, delivered by the state program Wasi Mikuna.
The incident occurred in the morning and was attended by medical personnel at the Copampa Health establishment and in the Carhuaz hospital.
According to the Regional Health Director, Ricardo Natividad Collas, most schoolchildren were discharged, although a minor remains under observation.
Given this new case, the Public Ministry has initiated investigations in the educational institution to clarify the origin of the possible poisoning.
This is the second similar event registered in the region so far this school year, after a case in the Coishco district.
The authorities seek to determine whether there were failures in the manipulation or distribution of the food of the program, formerly known as Qali Warma.
