The Ancap Board of Directors resolved to apply salary discounts to 85 workers of the rLa Teja refinery that carried out “atypical” union measures during the second half of December.
Ancap issued a statement this Thursday stating that itIt decided to make the discounts “under the premise that freedom of union action must always be respected, but work not done must not be paid by the company.”
The company stated that it has a “vocation for dialogue” and “the greatest respect for union activity.” He also rejected the term “persecution” used by the union in recent hours to refer to the issue. “Discounts for time not worked are not sanctions”, expressed a statement from the entity.
As published this Thursday by the weekly Búsqueda, the discount will be 15% on the salary of the days in which the union measures were taken.
The measures that originate the discount
In the case of the La Teja refinery The measure adopted by the union was not to sign the maintenance work permits between December 19 and 30, in demand for the filling of vacancies and salary increases at the refinery.
“This decision implied the partial breach of the responsibilities of the function of a group of operators and prevented the execution of planned maintenance tasks.several of which had to do with the safety of the equipment and on more than one occasion Ancap requested emergency guards to carry out necessary tasks, which was rejected by the union,” the company said.
“At the end of December, Ancap resolved a global program to fill vacancies that does not affect the operational role of the Refinery observed in the last six years and dismissed the claim for a salary increase for a certain group of officials for obvious reasons of internal equity and limitation budget,” the entity explained.
Another set of measures is linked to the conflict related to aerofuel plants. Ancap wants to rent the Laguna del Sauce airport plant in Punta del Este to reduce million-dollar losses and the union demands that the business remain in state hands. That led to union action late last year that affected supplies at airports.
This controversy “was brought to the tripartite level and has been temporarily resolved with an act signed by Ancap, Fancap, MTSS and MIEM. For this reason, the Administration reconsidered the discounts decided with respect to Logistics and Laboratory officials and, depending on the ongoing negotiations, they will not be applied”, explained the company.
