Geopolitical analyst Víctor Vegas stated that the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, is going through a process of international relegitimization that contrasts with the institutional fragility and decline of the United States. Furthermore, he highlighted that the world observes a contradiction in Washington’s policy, which applies a mixture of expansive doctrines such as Manifest Destiny and the Monroe Doctrine to justify its ambition over Venezuelan energy.
During an interview on the A Pulso program, the expert argued that if the logic of “devolution of territories” promoted by the imperial discourse were applied, the United States would face a total dismemberment, since its original formation is limited to a few states on the east coast and the rest of the territory belongs to nations that were stripped of their sovereignty.
Furthermore, he stressed that the attitude of Donald Trump’s administration lacks a respectful diplomatic basis, since access to Venezuela’s energy resources through legal channels has never been denied.
However, the specialist explained that the North American government resorts to confrontational rhetoric to hide that a large part of its current territory is supported by military bases and lands that do not originally belong to it.
Likewise, he explained that this crisis of national identity and the emergence of its own political system prevent Washington from negotiating under a balanced correlation of forces, which makes evident its need to impose itself through force.
The analyst concluded that the recognition of the figure of Nicolás Maduro as the central leader of the nation not only responds to internal political logic, but also to a global understanding of the true origin of external aggressions; Furthermore, while the United States seeks solutions to its own social tragedy and the fractures in its federal unity, Venezuela maintains a posture of defending its strategic resources.
In this sense, he commented that this ideological battle demonstrates that the model of unipolar domination loses ground in the face of the reality of sovereign states that refuse to be treated under the terms of a hegemony that is beginning to break from its own intestines.
