Analysis of Judicial Communication: key meeting in the DR

Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Judiciary and the National School of the Judiciary (ENJ) are preparing for the Second International Conference of Judicial Communicationa high-level event that will bring together jurists, communicators, academics and businessmen from various countries. The objective is to analyze the crucial role of communication in strengthening justice systems.

The conference, coordinated by the magistrate Francisco Ortega Polancojudge of the Supreme Court of Justice and national director of the Dr. Adriano Miguel Tejada Chair of Justice and Communication, will take place on the days November 26 and 27 at the El Embajador hotel.

The opening remarks will be given by the magistrate Henry Molinapresident of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Council of the Judiciary.

Judicial Communication: an essential bridge with citizens

During a meeting with the press, Judge Ortega Polanco emphasized that judicial communication has been consolidated as an autonomous professional and academic field, always seeking to place people at the center of the actions of the justice system.

“It is essential that the Judiciary communicates clearly and openly with users, because justice is a fundamental right that must be accessible to everyone,” Ortega Polanco stressed.

Panels and key topics on the agenda

The conference program will include various thematic panels that will address crucial aspects of judicial communication today:

  • Press and Judiciary in the Digital Age: Challenges, challenges and perspectives.
  • Technological innovation and judicial processes: Comparative experiences.
  • Media in the digital age: Management and business vision.
  • Judicial communication, technology and practice: Demonstration of processes applied to justice.
  • Judicial journalism in the digital age: Freedom of expression and the right to information.

High-level international figures

The conference will feature the participation of a select group of international guest speakers, including:

  • Juan Luis Cebrián: Founder of the Spanish newspaper El País and international director of the Justice and Communication Chair.
  • Juan Carlos Corte: Judge of the Constitutional Court of Colombia.
  • Ezequiel Klass: Undersecretary of Communication of the Supreme Court of Justice of Buenos Aires.
  • María Lucy Dávila Yévenes: Director of Communications of the Judicial Branch of Chile.
  • José Roberto Dutriz: President of the Inter-American Press Association (SIP).
  • Ileana Baez: Director of Communications of the Judicial Branch of Puerto Rico.
  • Adolfo Javier De Unanue Tiscareño: Director of the Mexico Data and Artificial Intelligence Center.
  • Fernanda Sobrino: Research professor.
  • Homeland Frias Columbus: Judge of the Supreme Court of New York.
  • The renowned communicator Jorge Ramos.

The Dominican Republic will also be strongly represented by opinion and business leaders:

  • Entrepreneurs: Manuel Corripio Alonso (Grupo Corripio), Manuel Estrella (Multimedios del Caribe) and Frank Rainieri (Grupo Diario Libre).
  • Journalists: Alicia Ortega (Grupo SIN), Persio Maldonado (El Nuevo Diario), Fausto Rosario Adames (Acento), Edith Febles (Telematutino El Día) and Julissa Céspedes (CDN), among others.
  • Judicial Officials: Javier Cabreja, general coordinator of Communications and Public Affairs of the Supreme Court of Justice, and Ricy Bidó, director of Technology of the Judiciary.
