Ana de Armas celebrates her birthday in Havana today

This Sunday, the Cuban actress Ana de Armas turns 35 and celebrates it in Havana where she arrived a few days ago precisely to share this date with friends and family in his native Cuba.

The event would not have anything special if it were not for the fact that de Armas is already one of the most international Cuban artists in our history, which makes her decision to spend her vacations in her country stand out much more.

Many Cubans have noticed the gesture and have publicly noted it on social networks, especially when seeing the photos that have circulated since her arrival in the city, where she is generous and simple.

In 2015, in an interview with OnCuba, The actress explained what it meant to her to be Cuban:

“You just can’t deny what you are. Being born in Cuba is part of my identity, not a label. I have always been proud of being born and raised there, for the personal value it has, for the emotional connection there is, because I respect my roots and my parents. Because the good and bad experiences that I lived shaped me and made me who I am today. I would be just as proud to have been born in another country, if I had the same parents and friends that I have in Cuba, with whom I grew up. That is what Cuba means to me, Cuba is my home because it is where my people are.”

Happy Birthday!

On a day like today in 1988, at the gates of the so-called Special Period, Ana de Armas was born in Santa Cruz del Norte, east of Havana.

Since she was a child, she discovered her taste for acting, perhaps without imagining the career that awaited her, full of efforts but also of achievements that, at her still young age, have only just begun.

Undoubtedly the most extraordinary recognition so far is having been nominated for an Oscar in the last edition, for her role as Marilyn Monroe in Blonde.

speaking for OnCubain 2015, said:

«Fernando Pérez is one of the best people I have met throughout my life. A man with a huge heart that does nothing but reflect in each of his works. I still remember, as if it were today, the day of the audition, Fernando whispered a few words in my ear, I think explaining the scene; I’m honestly not sure because the only thing that stuck with me was the tone of his voice, sweet and melancholic. His voice was my motivation. Stella Maris was my second experience in the cinema, together with Luis Alberto García, another of the people I love the most and who helped me the most in my beginnings. It was a short experience, yes I had a small character but I did my best and I really enjoyed it. On this occasion, the theater school did not give me permission to shoot, so I had to escape several afternoons to be able to shoot at night and then the next day I fell asleep in class. It was worth it!”

Challenges of Ana de Armas in “Ballerina”, her new action film with Keanu Reeves

In 2015, when asked about fame, he responded to OnCuba:

Fame and success are never a constant, as well as people who approach you or disappear as they see fit, I’ve always been very clear about that, and I’ve always given them the right importance. I think the first years of my career were the ones with the most change and the most critical because of the impact of fame on my personal life. But the fact of always being connected with my parents, with my friends and the many visits I made to Cuba have kept me close to reality. My family is what makes me think every day about what is really important in life. My life hasn’t changed much, although sometimes it’s hard to ignore people looking at you or chasing you down the street, I try to continue with my routine and in my world.

From OnCuba We celebrate her life and hope that all her talent and beauty continue to express themselves without obstacles or limits. Health and long work.
