The National Assembly (AN) created this Thursday a special commission that will evaluate celebrating every June 3 as the National Day of the Lawyer, in commemoration of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, who on that same date received the title of Doctor of Law from the Royal University and Pontifical Church of San Marcos, Lima, Peru.

The commission will be integrated in the presidency by the legislator Edgar Fernando Acosta; as vice president Alfonso Campos, and as collaborator the deputy and lawyer Hermann Escarrá, informed the president of the Legislative Jorge Rodriguez.

In the same way, the commission will be in charge of preparing the decree of the agreement to present it to the National Executive.

During the plenary session, the deputies debated the 196 years of having conferred the title on the Liberator, recognized as a man of great contributions to law and political science as a result of a profound academic evaluation of the then authorities of the Peruvian university.

“The Liberator is fundamentally the man of the constitutions because he understood that there was the set of aspirations, values, beliefs and desires of a people and of a policy at a given time,” said deputy Escarrá in the debate.

He stressed that the recognition of Bolívar was not an outburst, but a fact of honor, reports AVN.

For its part, Deputy Acosta He was the one who promoted celebrating every June 3 as Lawyer’s Day, arguing that Bolívar, as the father of the country, deserves said recognition.

The agreement approved by the AN also proposes to recognize the spirit of integration and unity of Bolívar, by uniting the peoples as brothers; and urges universities, academies, societies and other research centers to develop texts and works on the historic date.

“It is the duty of this AN to fulfill Simón Bolívar’s mandate to remember June 3, 1926 forever,” Acosta emphasized.

On June 3, 1826, the Royal and Pontifical University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru, before the examining court of the Doctorate of the Rectoral and Legal Authorities, awarded Bolívar recognition for his deep knowledge in Legal Sciences, author of laws and constitutions.
