In its regular meeting this Monday, the Special Commission for the Defense of the Territory of Guyana Esequiba and Territorial Sovereignty appointed two subcommittees, one will be responsible for systematizing all the evidence related to the litigation and the other will review and find all the titles in certifying the authenticity of the sovereignty of Venezuela over the disputed area.
This was reported by the president of the commission, deputy Hermann Escarrá (PSUV/Aragua), from the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda room of the Federal Legislative Palace, where he indicated that these instances will offer their contribution to the Executive Branch in order to defend the sovereignty of the Guyana Esequiba before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), refers to the web portal of the National Assembly.
In another order, he indicated that through two conferences, by Julio Peña and former magistrate Juan José Mendoza, the result of the sentence of April 6 of the ICJ was analyzed, which decided unfavorably for Venezuela.
Given this, he expressed the existence of three options to transit until 2024, which must be decided by the State. The first is to request a review of the sentence, taking into account the statutes of the ICJ. Second, to continue the process until the end, and finally, to request precautionary measures to interrupt the search for oil extraction by transnational companies in the Essequibo.
The parliamentarian also reported that the deputies of the commission received the presentation of spokespersons for the native peoples of Guayana Esequiba, movements of lawyers and defenders of the Essequibo who presented their proposal to the parliamentary body.
He announced that the guests were asked to continuously participate in the meetings of the commission, so that they become part of the work team.
