AN supports the actions of the Executive against corruption

The National Assembly (AN) approved this Tuesday – by an evident majority – the draft Agreement in Support of Investigation and Fight against Corruption, promoted from the National Government, to face this scourge.

The project was presented by the deputy to the AN for the Bloque de la Patria, God given hair.

During his participation in the ordinary session, Cabello stressed that this battle against corruption has been waged since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution.

“This is not a new battle, it is a historic battle that we have been waging since the Bolivarian Revolution. The issue of corruption is not only in our country, but it worries us here,” Cabello said.

In this sense, he recalled that these investigations began last year, and are headed by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

In the same way, he indicated that, after the investigations, this weekend the corresponding arrests of the perpetrators began to be carried out, so that they can be tried according to what is established in the Constitution.

“It is important to say that this is not the first time that this has happened, but it is important to say that in the Bolivarian Revolution we have never become a society of accomplices,” he stressed.

For this reason, the revolutionary leader urged the AN to get involved in the investigations promoted by the National Executive.

“It is sad to find that colleagues from the AN are involved in criminal acts. The right thing to do is to face these facts wherever they are. That is how we do it in the Bolivarian Revolution, that is how we have done it,” Cabello said.

In this sense, he stated that the investigations not only involve the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), but also the judges that are in the Judiciary, an action that has promoted -since last year-, a reform in the system of Justice.

“It is the hour of justice, we denounce it and put our chests in the air. The PSUV (United Socialist Party of Venezuela), the deputies of the Bloque de la Patria, are committed to fighting against acts of corruption”, he emphasized.

For his part, the opposition deputy, Luis Augusto Romero, stated that they would support the agreement, because the situation “is a matter of the State, of the Nation.”

This weekend they began to carry out a series of arrests against officials of the oil industry as well as the Judiciary and Legislative Branch for being involved in alleged acts of corruption.

Among the detainees, carried out by National Anti-Corruption Policeis the deputy Hugbel Roa (Psuv-Trujillo).

It should be remembered that, due to these events, Tareck El Aissami submitted his resignation as Minister for Oil on Monday within the framework of the investigations carried out in Petróleos de Venezuela.
