AN Special Commission will report to CELAC and the world more than 2,700 cases of crimes against Venezuelan migrants

The Special Commission that Investigates crimes against Venezuelan migrants abroad, will present a preliminary report before the Plenary of the National Assembly (AN) next Tuesday, April 26, and then file complaints before CELAC and the world of the more than two 1,700 cases of victims of xenophobia registered to date.

This was reported by the president of the parliamentary body, deputy Julio Chavezduring the press conference offered this Friday from the administrative headquarters of the Legislative Power, according to a press release from the AB.

Among the data that the parliamentarian advanced, two thousand 761 cases that the special commission has received stand out, registered in Colombia, Chile and the border of Mexico with the United States (USA). He explained that 2,529 were reported by the families of the victims and 232 have been systematized through the virtual office of the special commission.

He announced that they will denounce the crimes before the different multilateral organizations, including the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino) and the MERCOSUR Parliament (PARLASUR).

Chávez stressed that the campaign against Venezuelan migrants, which has degenerated into murders, discrimination, forced disappearances and other human rights violations, must be forcefully denounced before international bodies.

He also demanded that the government Ivan Duke that respects the human rights of the Venezuelan migrant population in Colombia. He also asked the Colombian president not to make the murders of Venezuelans that are registered in that country invisible. He questioned the Colombian authorities for not processing the complaints bravely filed by the families of the victims.

Chávez explained that the commission has received complaints about more than one hundred murders of Colombians and Venezuelans in Arauca and the north of Santander, in Colombia. For this reason, he warned and urged Venezuelans to refrain from transiting through those territories, since the Colombian government is not guaranteed the right to life or its citizens.

The deputy also announced that the special commission under his charge plans to promote a law that guarantees the fundamental rights of Venezuelan migrants.

Next, he added that the former Chilean senator, Alejandro Navarro, is expected to present a report on the cases of discrimination and xenophobia towards Venezuelan migrants in Chile before the AN Plenary next Tuesday.
