The Special Commission that investigates the assassination attempts and invasion of Venezuela based on the confessions of Mark Esper and Jhon Bolton, former officials of the US State Department during the Donald Trump government, received on Tuesday the chronological report of the illegal detention of the Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab.
Through a press release, the president of the commission, deputy Pedro Infante, declared that the wife of the Saab diplomat, Camila Fabri, delivered the document that allows establishing an order of the illegitimate deprivation of the Venezuelan official, which occurred in the year 2020 .
For his part, Fabri stressed that the confessions of the former US advisers fit perfectly with Alex Saab’s statements. He hopes that the investigation can be deepened so that the aggressive and political persecutions against the Venezuelan government cease.
Through a videoconference, the Deputy Minister of Anti-Blockade Policies, William Castillo, explained how unilateral coercive measures were part of the action plan of the Obama Decree of 2015, which included economic measures to suffocate the economy, stop the oil industry, paralyze the international trade and deteriorate national public finances. With this they intended, he said, to suffocate the people and overthrow the government of Nicolás Maduro.
Vice Minister Castillo added that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), an agency dependent on the United States Department of the Treasury, sanctioned 39 Venezuelan oil tankers, 30 foreign ships, 30 aircraft from the Venezuelan air fleet , 154 public and private companies and 150 people.
While deputy Infante pointed out that the political, diplomatic and international actions were also part of a configuration with different instances, such as the Lima Group, the Organization of American States (OAS), the application of the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance (TIAR) , among others, but also specific military operations such as Gideon, Puma, United States-Russia, United States-Colombia, United States-Brazil military exercises, to militarily attack Venezuela.
Finally, Infante indicated that next Friday an open national forum will be held to publicize the first advances of this special commission, in addition to determining the responsibilities of deputies who served in the AN during the 2015-2020 period. He stressed that they will review the participation of Freddy Guevara and pointed out that Voluntad Popular and Primero Justicia continue to appear as the common denominator parties that worked on the planning to attack Venezuela, assassinate President Nicolás Maduro and invade the Homeland.
