AN notifies the CNE of the start of the new legislative period 2023-2024

This Wednesday, a commission of the National Assembly (AN) chaired by deputy Francisco Ameliach (PSUV/Lara) visited the headquarters of the Electoral Power for the start of the annual period of ordinary sessions of the Legislative for the year 2023-2024.

The reception of the parliamentarians was in charge of the president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Pedro Calzadilla, and other authorities of the governing body, who received the official notification as established by the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (CRBV) and the Internal Regulations and Debates of the AN (Ridan), refers to a press release from the Legislative Branch.

Ameliach was accompanied by deputies José Villarroel (PSUV/Nacional), Juan Carlos Alemán (PSUV/Capital District), Enrique Ramos (PSUV/Carabobo), Rudy Puerta (PSUV/La Guaria), Roque Valero (PSUV/Aragua), Ginkellys Gutiérrez (PSUV/Lara), Azucena Jaspe (PSUV/Miranda), Luis Augusto Romero (AP/National) and Luis Eduardo Martínez (AD/Aragua).

Assemblyman Ameliach highlighted that the Electoral Power has played an important role in the country’s politics, because it preserved the peace of the Republic in difficult moments of violence and sabotage, and with this it complied with article 3 of the CRBV regarding the responsibility of the State to build a just and peace-loving society.

He indicated that the Venezuelan electoral system is not only the best in the world, but the only one that audits before, during and after each vote, being the most transparent process in the entire history of the country.

For his part, the highest representative of the Electoral Power stressed that this commission of the National Assembly is the product of the expression of sovereignty of the people, for which reason “it corroborates the firm and sustained tendency of stabilization of our country and the full functioning of the institutionality in a democratic republic.
