The number of leaders, at different levels, who in this process have abandoned the political organizations to which they have belonged for years is significantly high and with a tendency to grow more and more. All the parties have had some participation in the phenomenon, and in the case of the main ones, all three have been issuers and receivers of figures, although it is very evident that, at least up to now, the one that has suffered the most losses is the PLD and the one that has received the most “reinforcements” is the pro-government PRM.
The destinations
Until recently, those who left the PLD had a common destiny: La Fuerza del Pueblo. The reasons given varied, but all roads led to the “new party.” The departure of peledeistas has continued, despite the fact that it was thought that it would stop with the consultation in which Abel Martínez was the winner. An internal process in which one of the applicants prevailed widely seemed a good way to try a relaunch and stop the bleeding, but it has not been like that in practice. What has changed now is that those who leave follow different paths. Some go to the PRM and there are others, a good number, who have joined Justicia Social, headed by Julio César Valentín. There are also, at this moment, several leaders who have resigned from the PLD and have not decided what their new home will be, or at least, they have not reported it.
name lists
As sometimes the issue of removals is cheated and figures are bulked up, in some of the last ones the lists of those who are leaving and the positions they held have been offered. This is what the PLD did recently when it reported that the PRM “in full” of the Santana municipal district, in Tamayo, joined its ranks. The peledeístas sent to the media a list with 47 names. And yesterday, a group of FP members left that organization and announced the formation of the Poder Ciudadano party, chaired by Lizamavel Collado. The resigners sent their list with more than 40 names and the role that each of them had until recently in Leonel Fernández’s party.
