MIAMI.-After four days of searching, the body of Jesus David Corcho Perezwho had been reported missing, appeared lifeless and with signs of violence.
A cousin from Corcho communicated the tragic news through Facebookensuring that the young man was murdered, without other details about the circumstances of the crime.
The 22-year-old was last seen on Sunday when he left on his motorcycle. The vehicle has not been found so far so it could have been the motive for the crime.
According to people close to the victim, Corcho was a very beloved young man in the community. Alicia María López Hernández, one of his teachers, described him as “an exceptional human being,” an “animal lover,” and with a big heart.
The doctor and activist Alina Barbara Lopeza native of Jovellanos, joined in the condolences and wrote on his Facebook.
“I feel very sorry for his mother, from whom the only child she managed to have and to whom she dedicated her life was taken away; I feel sorry for his father, who arrived desperate from the United States and had been helping in the search for days; I am sorry for all his family and friends.”
The historian stressed that this is not an isolated case. “The level of citizen insecurity in Cuba is alarming. People go to sleep and are robbed in their homes. “Those who are lucky enough not to wake up save their lives, others have not been so lucky and have been beaten or killed.”
At the beginning of this year Cubanet presented a special on violence in Cubaaccompanied by a database created in-house, where we register 393 criminal acts (feminicides, assaults, robberies, sexual violations and murders) that occurred in 2023 in Cuba.
